Here are some of the craziest facts that our Zetland restaurant found out about Chinese Valentine’s Day:
• Did you know that some gifts are considered bad luck? Well if you buy your significant other an umbrella, in Chinese the word for umbrella is ‘San’ which sounds very similar to the word break up in Chinese
• China has it’s own Valentine’s Day and it has an entire festival called the Qixi Festival
• The red string cling, is where two people in love tie a red string to each others wrist and it will pair the two soulmates together for eternity
• There is some form of conflict every Valentine’s Day as many of the Chinese couples want to get married on this day
