14th Feb, Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and that is what we usually celebrate.
Do you know what there is Chinese Valentine’s Day?
Based on the lunar calendar, it falls on the seventh day of the seventh month. It is also called the “double seventh” festival.
And have you heard about the beautiful love legend about Niu Lang and Zhi Nu?
Niu Lang is a poor cowboy who lives with his brothers and was badly treated by them. After gotten kicked out of his home, he met an old man, who is believed to be an immortal, and the old man guided him to the sick cattle from heaven. Being a kind hearted young chap, Niu Lang took great care of the cattle. When the cattle recovered, the cow introduced Zhi Nu, a fairy from heaven. They fell deeply in love, got married and had two kids. However, when the queen of the heaven found out about them, she tried to separate them by creating a huge river between them. Later on, the queen was very touched by the love between Niu Lang and Zhi Nu when both of them cried endlessly. She then allows them to meet each other on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month every year. This is an interesting story to share with your date on Valentine’s Day, isn’t it?
